About GZÏ Art Gallery
"Art has been in my life for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Concarneau, Brittany (Bretagne) in France, I was going every week to Pont-Aven where my mother Myriam Guénaïzia has had her own gallery for the past 40 years.
Pont-Aven is known all over France as the city of painters (3000 inhabitants for over 60 art galleries!). The famous French artist Paul Gauguin established his workshop there more than a century ago and attracted painters from all over the country and Europe. Needless to say, I was surrounded by paintings from dawn till dusk. My family home actually looks like a museum.
I came to Budapest for the first time about 6 years ago, I was struck by its beauty, the architecture, the Danube, the nature around it. After living for some years in South Korea, I decided to come back to Europe and chose Budapest to do so. It has now been a couple of years.
The idea of opening my own art gallery has been with me for a long time now. The talent of my mother clearly skipped a generation when it comes to painting, however I do enjoy finding new talents or helping in the development of established ones. Budapest seemed the perfect place to do so. It is so culturally rich and many blooming young talents and artists as well as amazing established ones.
The GZÏ Arts brand and the GZÏ Art gallery are years in the making, drawing from my own experience, from my mother’s and every amazing and talented people I have had the chance to meet throughout my life.
My wish if there were to remain only one is to make you discover incredible artists from all over the world."
